A Royal Renaissance Event
Music City Events Presents: A Royal Renaissance Wedding
Featuring Pantone’s Color of the year, Luxurious fabrics & “A Cinderella Story”
It is no secret that Music City Events loves our Nashville event community! We have excellent “Friendors” to work with and have formed lasting relationships with so many.
To name just a few:
Southern Events Party Rental Company
Mansion & Marsh Floral and Event Design
Sigourney Herrmann Photography
are ones we specifically wanted to bring recognition to, as we begin our Spring 2020 event season!
VENUE
We at Music City Events have been obsessed with Noelle since it opened in December of 2017. The mid-centry art deco and charming history makes all who see their event space squeal with delight. We have been fortunate to work with our friend, Taylor Guardino - Noelle Catering Sales Manager, on many occasions over the years, and recently came together in collaboration for this styled wedding shoot.
THEME
Our theme, “A Royal Renaissance,” was inspired by a joke shared with Guardino at a recent holiday party. She was wearing a lovely velvet headband that night and I (Heather) claimed that she looked like the cast of the 1998 film, “Ever After: A Cinderella Story,” starring Drew Barrymore… ONLY SEXIER...and modern.
So, the theme was birthed upon a dated movie, with very dated elements, yet with styles that are classic and timeless. We wanted to create something for the traditional couple, who love classic styles yet don’t want their wedding to look like an early 90’s wedding. So, we upcycled some trends we have not seen in a while.
RENTALS
Thankfully for us, Southern Events Party Rental Company was able to see through the dated looks of our inspo board, to see the potential of this design. What says “royal” more than gold flatware and velvet linens? Our goal was to feature Pantone’s 2020 Color of the Year: Classic Blue. So, we built the look upon a rich textured linen with the very modern Cybil Glassware Set.
FLORALS
We have been admirers of Mansion & Marsh for quite some time. So, when Teri Shackelford agreed to join us on this adventure and provide the florals for this event, we were beyond excited. Her design skills were insightful, quick and spot on with the wild, full and earthy vision we pictured for this design. She also didn’t shy away from my quirky need to have grapes entwined into the arrangements… a fad we see from the 90’s golf course wedding or more accurately artificial model home fruit basket arrangements.
When giving direction to my vision, I would say things like, “ I just want the arrangements to look like Drew Barrymore is coming in from the fields and picked an arrangement for her room. Wild, scavenged, earthy and old world.” and she got it!
DECOR
I have this really bad habit of designing events with items that either don’t exist or are not available in a timely fashion. I do feel so bad for my partner, Lindsy, who only wants the vision I pitch to come to life. But, I think she is a superhero for investing as much as she does into the workload that I throw at her.
THE DOME
Inspired by the garden weddings of Caesars Palace, The Venetian Resort Hotel and specifically The Primrose Courtyard in Las Vegas, I felt that greenery covered spheres of iron were the absolute epitome of a renaissance themed wedding.
One of the most romantic scenes in “Ever After” is when Danielle and Prince Henry meet in the overgrown ruins of Henry’s childhood garden. I wanted to create that feel with this ol’ relic.
The iron dome we used is an original top to a Broadway horse drawn Cinderella Carriage (how perfect right!?). The original owner replaced his carriage top with a lightweight one and gave the iron 14k lb. dome to Jason at Tucker Photography Studio. I'm sure the horses were very grateful. I divinely happened to pass by and spot the dome in the front of their property off Donelson pike. I knew it was exactly what I was looking for, and visited Tucker as soon as I could. He told us as long as we could transport it, we could use it!
It was very heavy and very large. It took a week of maneuvering it to Noelle, and we had to recruit extra manpower last minute. It was too large to bring up through the service elevator, so we had to unload the dome through the front of Noelle. The Noelle staff was so sweet and supportive despite our unruly appearance. They went above and beyond to get the dome in, and we are so grateful.
I am 9 months pregnant and threw my back for the first time two days before the Shoot. Lindsy had a severe virus that jumbled up her ribcage from all the coughing. We love making things happen, but are also not ignorant to the damage this dome could have pushed on our bodies. Our strong, powerful, able bodied husbands were traveling that weekend, so we all had to get creative about pickup and dropoff times with my husband, Lindsy's brother and her husband.
I still don't know how we got it there without hurting ourselves, but I know that I would still be laying on that beautiful Saidee Gallery floor had it not been for the husbands, family, friends, valets, bartender and hotel guests who stepped up and took charge of that beautiful Cinderella Carriage dome.
THE BUSTS
Who doesn’t love looking at a perfectly chiseled face? We brought in a few to add to the renaissance inspired decor. One of our dear brides, Becky, lent us her personal busts from her home. And we are so thankful to add them to these tablescapes.
PHOTOGRAPHY
We were new to Sigourney Herrmann’s work, but boy are we glad to have partnered up with her! Herrmann’s team arrived with the biggest smiles and got right to work capturing Lindsy and I putting the final glasses to the tables. In no time their memory cards were filled with everything we needed to remember the day. Every detail we could have thought of can be seen from our photo gallery, which was delivered in record timing!
We absolutely loved this styled shoot and couldn’t be happier with how it all looks today. What a challenge it was in many different ways, but we are so glad our team came together to create this eye candy for all to see!
