Designing an Event Inspired by Your Surroundings
Inspiration for wedding design can be found in many places. Often times, we use the venue or the natural surroundings to inspire our client’s weddings or styled shoots. So, when Josh of J.Jackson Mobile Mixologist got 6 wedding planners and venues on board to create some new content during this events “dry spell” known as COVID-19, I was thrilled to be included! And what should I used for inspiration at the gorgeous Wilburn Street Studio but their custom bar, of course! Their custom bar has a beautiful wooden inlay that reminds me of two things: the 70s and the Pacific NW (where I am from!) so I used that as a theme. Pairing a bright, textured linen from Liberty with some warm, wooden items and some glitzy gold-rimmed china. And nothing says the 70s like velvet! Velvet linens and antique chairs brought it all together. And then, let’s talk about that cake! This is on my favorite parts of this entire design! I wanted the cake to suit the venue and use the bar as inspiration so the team at Baked in Nashville matched the beautiful walls at Wilburn with the wood design on the bar to create this custom look!
I would highly recommend using inspiration from your venue to guide you in designing your wedding. For instance, very traditional or antique items won’t look great in an industrial space, just as super modern decor won’t work in an historic hotel or mansion.
