Advice from a Real Bride

So, ladies. Here you are, all caught up in planning your wedding.

There are so many things to do or choose from. So many fun things, so many necessary things... your budget can only go so far. Stress usually comes with wedding planning - even with a planner (just waaaay less of it).

"What really matters?" you might find yourself thinking. You hear that photography is the most important. You read that catering is the most important. You read "just relax and enjoy the whole thing" (and you think, yeah right).

From us to you - here are REAL LIFE, Nashville brides telling you how it is. Some of these brides have been married a few months, some have been married 2 years. I want to give you perspective from all sides!

This is a series we will carry through out 2012. Hopefully, it gives you a calm in the storm. Something to think on and someone to trust.

Caroline, one of our brides from 2011, says:

This is HARD.  I think the one thing I would say is it is SO important to understand every contract.

The ins and outs of what you are signing could make your day amazing or a nightmare.  And by your day - I mean the year leading up to it to the year after.

  • Understand when payments are due, how they need to be made (if they charge more for credit cards then checks).
  • Understand what you are getting - and when you get it.  Really ask about the after wedding time line. Get in writing when you will be receiving photos, videos etc. Have as much info as you can in those contracts so that you can look back at your day with happiness and not angst because you are still upset about something. If you know when you get them back, you don't have to worry!
  • Have as much info as you can in those contracts so that you can look back at your day with happiness and not angst because you are still upset about something.

And then, when you can, let it go.  Try to remember the happy times and not the times that you wish you could change.  It isn't going to be perfect.  Rejoice in the fact that you had an amazing time.

~ Caroline, married since March 2011
